The owner brief is aligned. These remaining items require interior-designer input, specialist confirmation, measurements or later selections; they do not reopen the completed brainstorm and merge.
Context and Design Intent
Create a spacious, flexible and uncluttered family living zone near the entrance. It should support everyday television viewing, reading, conversation and children's floor play, provide comfortable hosting capacity and retain open circulation toward the bedrooms and balcony without recreating the cramped feel of the existing home. Yasmin's preferred adjacency to the study is preserved as an attributed layout position.
This file is the authoritative requirements record for the Living area. It preserves the valid initial requirements and merges the two independently completed owner brainstorms without selecting between differing preferences.
Non-Negotiables
LIV-NN-001 — Agreed: Remove the existing living-area storeroom to enlarge the common space.
LIV-NN-003 — Agreed: Provide two professionally sized AC blowers across the combined living/dining zone, coordinated for effective airflow, efficient trunking and service access.
LIV-NN-006 — Agreed: Keep the routes between the entrance, living area, kitchen, bedrooms and balcony clear and avoid furniture or carpentry that makes the enlarged common space feel cramped.
LIV-NN-007 — Agreed: Reuse the existing powered three-seater recliner sofa and provide power without creating a trip hazard or obstructing furniture movement.
LIV-NN-008 — Agreed: Provide a television and soundbar arrangement with power, HDMI and wired networking. The TV console must contain all items that require storage in the Living area, conceal cables and media devices, and preserve ventilation, replacement, repair and future equipment access.
LIV-NN-009 — Agreed: Provide a fan-only smart ceiling fan without an integrated light, sized for effective coverage and coordinated with the AC blowers, separate lighting, ceiling works and furniture layout.
LIV-NN-042 — Agreed: Limit built-in Living-area carpentry to the TV feature wall and media console. Do not add other built-in cabinets or shelving.
Strongly Preferred
LIV-SP-002 — Agreed: Locate the main living area nearer to the entrance while retaining more open space toward the bedrooms and balcony.
LIV-SP-004 — Agreed: Provide convenient charging, power, lighting, fan and network points coordinated with the final furniture layout.
LIV-SP-010 — Agreed: Support daily television viewing, reading, conversation and children's floor play, together with periodic coffee or tea hosting, while retaining useful open floor space.
LIV-SP-011 — Agreed: Provide comfortable permanent seating for at least five people without overcrowding. Test supplementary movable seating for larger gatherings; Fahmi's attributed aspiration is five to eight permanent seats if the measured layout remains spacious.
LIV-SP-012 — Agreed: Provide separate layered, dimmable lighting capable of bright general illumination for house cleaning and similar work, as well as warm, relaxed television, reading, hosting and evening scenes. Use soft cove lighting as a positive reference and control glare.
LIV-SP-013 — Agreed: Preserve useful natural ventilation when the AC is off.
LIV-SP-014 — Agreed: Use a calm, warm, minimalist and easy-maintenance design that does not feel visually crowded.
LIV-SP-015 — Agreed: Keep furniture sufficiently movable or reconfigurable to support hosting and children's play while protecting the required circulation and open-space objectives.
LIV-SP-043 — Agreed: Store and charge the handheld or stick vacuum, such as a Dyson V12, in a concealed but accessible compartment within the integrated foyer/shoe cabinet. This is separate from the robot-vacuum dock in the Service balcony.
Decisions Outstanding
LIV-DO-023 — Finalise the television size, wall treatment, viewing distance, furniture orientation, supplementary seating and exact permanent-seat count after reviewing measured layouts.
LIV-DO-024 — Decide the central network-cabinet location and whole-home smart-home standard in the Whole-Home Systems workflow; do not resolve either solely within the Living design.
LIV-DO-025 — Verify the dimensions and status of the recliner, soundbar, subwoofer, Apple TV and other media equipment before fixing outlets, wall mounts or carpentry. Fahmi records the soundbar and subwoofer as existing; Yasmin records the soundbar status as still to confirm.
LIV-DO-026 — Finalise whether the Living and Dining zones should read as one continuous space or have a subtle visual distinction after both layouts are developed.

Resolved joint decisions
LIV-DIFF-001 — Resolved 22 August 2026: Fahmi and Yasmin jointly agreed on a fan-only ceiling fan without an integrated light. Separate lighting must be dimmable and bright enough for house cleaning and similar work, recorded under LIV-NN-009 and LIV-SP-012.
LIV-DIFF-002 — Resolved 22 August 2026: Fahmi and Yasmin jointly agreed that the TV feature wall and media console will be the only built-in carpentry in the Living area and must contain all Living-area items requiring storage, recorded under LIV-NN-008 and LIV-NN-042.
LIV-SF-021 — Handheld-vacuum location: Resolved 23 August 2026. Fahmi reported that he and Yasmin jointly agreed to store and charge the handheld or stick vacuum in the integrated foyer/shoe cabinet, recorded under LIV-SP-043 and FOY-SP-033. The robot-vacuum dock remains in the Service balcony.

Provisional Ideas
LIV-P-005 — Agreed provisional: Any later decorative shelf or bookshelf must be freestanding rather than built in, and may be considered only if it does not reduce useful space.
LIV-P-016 — Agreed provisional: Include an aesthetically suitable movable coffee table if measured clearances show that it will not crowd circulation or children's floor space.
LIV-P-017 — Fahmi: Consider floor-level lighting, an air purifier, motorised blinds, a future PoE CCTV camera, future game consoles and additional set-top boxes. Provide only proportionate, accessible and adaptable infrastructure at this stage.
Subject to Feasibility
LIV-SF-018 — Demonstrate a dimensioned furniture plan using the existing recliner and supplementary seating that achieves at least five permanent seats, preserves clear routes and useful open floor area, and avoids a cramped result.
LIV-SF-019 — Test 55-inch, 65-inch and, if proportionate, 75-inch television options against viewing distance, wall dimensions, glare, sound transfer and future replacement access. Yasmin prefers a size larger than 55 inches; Fahmi leaves the size open to the test.
LIV-SF-020 — Confirm the final AC distribution, fan coverage, lighting positions, ceiling clearances and natural-airflow paths as one coordinated design.
LIV-SF-022 — Confirm warm-toned, durable, easy-clean flooring and feature-wall materials using physical samples and coordination with the whole-home palette.

Fahmi
LIV-FP-027 — Aim for five to eight permanent seats if they fit without overcrowding; supplement them with movable chairs, stools, dining chairs and floor seating during larger gatherings.
LIV-FP-028 — Prefer a floating sofa arrangement and seating that encourages upright social interaction while retaining some lounging, subject to workable circulation.
LIV-FP-029 — Preserve flexible floor space for prayer, exercise, informal sitting and occasional laptop use in addition to the shared daily activities.
LIV-FP-030 — Reduce television glare and sound transfer toward the bedrooms where reasonably feasible.
LIV-FP-031 — Integrate suitable dimmable LED lighting and fan-speed control with Home Assistant while retaining practical physical wall-switch operation. Prefer normal replaceable outlets inside any charging carpentry, with ventilation, cable management and service access.
LIV-FP-032 — Provide accessible spare power, network and HDMI capacity for future entertainment equipment, power for possible motorised blinds and a possible PoE CCTV route.

Yasmin
LIV-YP-034 — Position the TV feature wall on the wall adjoining the study and wall-mount a television larger than 55 inches, with the final size proportionate to the wall and design.
LIV-YP-035 — Use warm-toned tiles, replace the existing flooring and maintain a barrier-free floor with no kerbs or level changes so robot-vacuum circulation is unimpeded.
LIV-YP-036 — Do not include a rug.
LIV-YP-037 — Use a minimalist, luxurious and clean feature wall with curved corners or edges, explicitly avoiding the oversized, heavy carpentry of the existing home.
LIV-YP-038 — Provide whole-home smart-home infrastructure, with switch types and exact positions to be settled through whole-home coordination.
LIV-YP-039 — Use the existing home's soft cove lighting and curtains as positive references for the new design.
Questions for the Interior Designer
Show a dimensioned arrangement accommodating the powered three-seater recliner, at least five permanent seats, movable hosting capacity, useful open floor area and all required circulation.
Demonstrate the TV-wall location adjoining the study, suitable screen sizes, viewing distance, glare control, sound direction and accessible media cabling without oversized or inflexible carpentry.
Show alternatives for satisfying the competing built-in-storage positions and quantify the storage capacity of each.
Demonstrate that the separate lighting arrangement provides bright, even, dimmable illumination for cleaning without conflicting with the fan, AC or softer lighting scenes.
Demonstrate coordinated AC airflow, fan and light clearances, natural ventilation, power, network and future media capacity.
Present flooring, feature-wall and furniture samples that meet the warm, minimalist, easy-maintenance and safety objectives.
Whole-Home Coordination
Apply SYS-NN-002 to the wired television endpoint, future PoE route and final network-cabinet design.
Apply SYS-NN-004 to the Living ceiling fan and the two combined-zone AC blowers.
