Context and Design Intent
Create a durable, easy-maintenance and presentation-ready common bathroom used frequently by the child and regularly by household members and guests. Keep it visually spacious, provide a safe kerb-free open wet-room layout, protect the vanity from shower water and coordinate its two agreed entrances with dependable drainage and water containment.
This file is the authoritative requirements record for WC2. It preserves the valid initial requirements and the earlier entrance decision, and merges the two independently completed owner brainstorms without selecting between differing preferences.
Non-Negotiables
WC2-NN-001 — Agreed: Replace all sanitary fittings and fixtures, completely renew and test the waterproofing, inspect and replace defective or unsuitable pipes, and prevent ponding or water escape.
WC2-NN-002 — Robot-vacuum access into WC2 is not required.
WC2-NN-005 — Agreed: Use an integrated or joint-minimised sink and countertop selected through the same material process as WC1 and assessed for stain, scratch, chemical and moisture resistance, repairability, warranty and maintenance.
WC2-NN-007 — Agreed: Provide a completely kerb-free entrance and no internal kerbs or dropped shower floor. Use normal subtle floor falls and suitable drains to contain water safely.
WC2-NN-008 — Agreed: Use an open wet-room layout without a shower enclosure or full wet/dry partition. It is acceptable for the toilet and most of the floor to become wet, but the vanity and its storage must remain dry.
WC2-NN-009 — Agreed: Right-size the vanity to maximise circulation and provide clear space beside or beneath it for a freestanding child's step stool; do not use a built-in pull-out step.
WC2-NN-010 — Agreed: Provide a conventional floor-mounted toilet and a handheld bidet spray with accessible water isolation or control.
WC2-NN-011 — Agreed: Provide a handheld shower. Coordinate the shower position and product storage so nothing projects dangerously into elbow or circulation space.
WC2-NN-012 — Agreed: Provide enclosed vanity storage and mirror-cabinet storage for the child's daily products, guest supplies, spare toilet rolls and other daily bathroom essentials without crowding the room.
WC2-NN-013 — Agreed: Keep drains, valves, traps and maintainable pipework accessible through removable service panels suitable for maintenance and future HIP works.
WC2-NN-046 — Agreed ventilation direction: Follow the WC1 decision by using the existing window or natural-ventilation opening together with a normal small toilet ceiling-mounted circulation fan. Do not provide a ducted mechanical exhaust or extraction system. Select a moisture-suitable fan and coordinate safe electrical provision, airflow and maintenance access.
WC2-NN-047 — Agreed: Provide a bathroom-rated power point at the vanity. Confirm its safe wet-zone position, intended loads, electrical protection and accessible use with the ID during site planning.
WC2-DO-006 — Agreed joint decision: Retain WC2 access from the Service balcony and from the external passage adjacent to the Living/Dining area. Make the external-passage entrance a seamless flush or hidden door integrated with the surrounding wall, and provide no kitchen-side entrance.
Strongly Preferred
WC2-SP-003 — Agreed: Keep the vanity and storage proportionate, dry, convenient and easy to clean while preserving useful floor area.
WC2-SP-004 — Agreed: Improve ventilation and prevent persistent dampness or mould using the natural-ventilation opening and ceiling circulation fan specified under WC2-NN-046.
WC2-SP-014 — Agreed: Create a calm, uncluttered, warm, minimalist and quietly luxurious bathroom that remains suitable for guests and coordinates with the whole-home design.
WC2-SP-015 — Agreed: Provide soft warm lighting consistent with WC1, while retaining practical brightness for normal use. Fahmi additionally requests general, ambient and very-dim night modes with dimming and manual control.
WC2-SP-016 — Agreed intent: Include both a rain shower and handheld shower if the rain shower does not compromise waterproofing, drainage, kerb-free access, vanity dryness, circulation, safe clearances or essential storage.
WC2-SP-017 — Agreed: Use mould-resistant, minimal-grout and easy-clean finishes and joints, with wet-area flooring selected for suitable slip resistance without an unnecessarily difficult-to-scrub texture.
Decisions Outstanding
WC2-DO-027 — Select the whole-home water-heating system through SYS-DO-006 and supply hot water to the WC2 shower and basin as the final system allows.
WC2-DO-028 — Confirm the final AC-condensate receiving drain and route with WC1, the whole-home AC design, the ID, plumber and AC contractor. Fahmi prefers WC1 and does not want WC2 used unless a technical constraint requires it.
WC2-DO-031 — Finalise the drain type, minimal splash protection, vanity dimensions, step-stool position, rain-shower inclusion, storage configuration, lighting controls and finish palette after measured and technical demonstrations.

Provisional Ideas
WC2-P-018 — Agreed provisional: Use the minimum fixed glass splash panel needed to keep the vanity dry only if measured water testing or layout analysis shows it is necessary; do not create a full shower enclosure.
WC2-P-019 — Consider concealed structural backing for possible future grab bars before waterproofing and finishes. No visible grab bars are currently requested.
WC2-P-020 — Fahmi: Identify an accessible location for a future owner-installed water-leak sensor without installing one during the renovation unless later selected.
Subject to Feasibility
WC2-SF-021 — Demonstrate the complete floor-fall and drainage strategy for two kerb-free entrances, including any doorway or linear drainage required to prevent water escaping into the external passage or Service balcony.
WC2-SF-022 — Show a dimensioned vanity, mirror cabinet, freestanding step-stool space, dry storage and circulation arrangement without an oversized vanity.
WC2-SF-023 — Confirm whether the rain shower fits safely with the handheld shower, ceiling height, circulation, open wet-room layout and higher-priority requirements.
WC2-SF-024 — Demonstrate a recessed, corner or other shower-product storage solution that is easy to clean and does not project into the user's elbow or movement space.
WC2-SF-025 — Compare WC2 materials with the WC1 selection process while giving WC2 a distinct colour or finish that remains consistent with the whole-home palette.
WC2-SF-026 — Confirm privacy locks that can be released externally in an emergency and coordinate both doors, users, water containment and circulation.
Resolved Joint Decisions
Entrance arrangement — WC2-DO-006 / WC2-DIFF-001: Resolved 15 August 2026. Fahmi and Yasmin agreed to retain the Service-balcony and external-passage entrances, use a seamless flush or hidden external-passage door adjacent to the Living/Dining area, and omit a kitchen-side entrance. This later joint decision supersedes the earlier open entrance alternatives in Fahmi's brainstorm.
Ventilation equipment — WC2-DIFF-002 / former WC2-DO-030: Resolved 22 August 2026. Fahmi and Yasmin jointly agreed to follow the WC1 decision: use a normal small toilet ceiling-mounted circulation fan with the window or natural-ventilation opening and do not install a ducted mechanical extractor, recorded under WC2-NN-046 and WC2-SP-004.
Vanity power point — WC2-DIFF-003 / former WC2-DO-029: Resolved 22 August 2026. Fahmi agreed with Yasmin that WC2 requires a bathroom-rated power point at the vanity, recorded under WC2-NN-047.

WC2-FP-032 — Design for one occupant at a time and also accommodate use by Fahmi, visiting family, a possible future helper and other household users.
WC2-FP-033 — Use a thermostatic mixer with an anti-scald temperature stop and an adjustable-height rail for the handheld shower.
WC2-FP-034 — Provide suitable bathroom-rated power and water provision for a possible future electronic bidet seat or washlet.
WC2-FP-035 — Provide one bath-towel position, a separate hand-towel holder, a toilet-roll holder and dry storage for cleaning supplies and medicines.
WC2-FP-036 — Provide bright general, softer ambient and very-dim night lighting, ideally dimmable and tunable between warm and neutral white, with Home Assistant-compatible automation plus ordinary physical switches and manual control.
WC2-FP-037 — Prefer groutless or minimal-grout systems; where grout remains necessary, consider acrylic grout or a system with comparable maintenance performance. Use replaceable mould-resistant silicone and easy-clean treatment on any fixed glass.
WC2-FP-038 — An ordinary easy-clean mirror is sufficient; mirror heating or demisting is not required.
WC2-FP-039 — Prefer WC1 as the AC-condensate receiver. If WC2 is proposed, require a concealed, quiet and maintainable route that cannot pond or obstruct a floor trap.
Yasmin
WC2-YP-040 — Treat the child, who bathes morning and evening, and guests as the primary users and keep WC2 presentation-ready for guests.
WC2-YP-041 — Give WC2 a colour and finish different from WC1 while retaining a luxe, minimalist and modern whole-home character; allow the ID to propose the palette using physical samples.
WC2-YP-042 — Include WC2 in the whole-home smart-home system, with specific automation such as a motion-triggered night light or fan to be coordinated later.
WC2-YP-043 — No additional accessibility fittings or visible grab bars are currently required; future-proofing may be assessed with the ID.
WC2-YP-044 — Use a standard floor drain or trap, with the final type and gradient confirmed by the ID.
WC2-YP-045 — Use a single-basin vanity.
Questions for the Interior Designer
Show the agreed Service-balcony and hidden external-passage doors together with privacy locks, circulation, floor falls, doorway drainage and full water-containment details.
Demonstrate an open wet-room layout with no kerbs, no dropped shower floor and no full shower enclosure while keeping the vanity, mirror cabinet and stored items dry.
Show the right-sized vanity, Yasmin's single-basin preference, step-stool clearance, mirror storage and all required family and guest storage.
Demonstrate safe shower-product storage with no elbow hazard and compare the minimum splash panel, if any, needed to protect the vanity.
Confirm whether the rain shower fits without compromising the higher-priority requirements.
Demonstrate the natural-ventilation opening and moisture-suitable ceiling circulation fan together, including fan size, safe clearances, airflow, drying contribution, electrical work, cleaning, maintenance and smart/manual control.
