Whole-home systems

Initial draftUpdated 13 August 2026Approved for Site publication (working draft)

Context and Design Intent

  • Coordinate infrastructure before partitions, carpentry and finishes so the home is practical, maintainable and future-ready.
  • This file is the authoritative requirements record for this area. The initial draft extracts known points from 10 - Requirements/00 - Renovation Discussion Summary.md; later merges must follow 02 - AI Collaboration Rules.md.

Non-Negotiables

  • SYS-NN-002 — Provide wired network connections to every room using cabling and network equipment rated for the selected PoE standard.
  • SYS-NN-003 — Provide permanent water-supply and wastewater connections for the robot-vacuum dock, water dispenser and dehumidifier.
  • SYS-NN-004 — Provide ceiling fans throughout the home and two AC blowers for the combined living/dining zone.

Strongly Preferred

  • SYS-SP-001 — Full rewiring is strongly preferred because the flat is over 20 years old, pending inspection and advice on whether full replacement is necessary.
  • SYS-SP-005 — Keep electrical, networking, plumbing, AC and other service routes neat, accessible and coordinated before carpentry.

Decisions Outstanding

  • SYS-DO-006 — Compare gas instantaneous, electric instantaneous and electric storage water-heating systems.
Detailed requirements and coordination

Questions for the Interior Designer

  • What equipment must remain operational during a power or network outage?
  • Which rooms require the highest network speed or PoE devices?
  • What electrical loads and spare capacity should be reserved?

Whole-Home Coordination

  • Refer to 10 - Requirements/01 - Whole-Home Systems Requirements.md for shared electrical, network, plumbing, AC, accessibility and service-access requirements.
